Ace Hotel Palm Springs

This place rules. Fucking gorgeous, hella gays, healing heat, fresh juice cocktails and organic food. I had an amazing 4 days. I love the Ace from working at the one in Portland and I'm always happy to see what they've done in other cities, I was quite pleased. Some pics:

Stella McCartney SP09

This collection reminds me of Michael Kors ad YSL a little bit. I love how of resort influenced her Spring collection is: the colors and the fabrics, the shell designs, the bathing suits and onesies, the bronzy glam and sex appeal. Then she has menswear construction throw in which I think works in some cases (longer blazers over dresses and cropped pants) and in others not (short cropped collared skirt/dresses and onesies). The overall collection is a little far reaching (a lot of fabrics, patterns, types of garments) but there are some beautiful pieces that have been favs of mine for spring.

Jil Sander

I love the masculine femininity that comes from Jill Sander, and always done in a clean and minimalist way. The looks for spring 2009 are super sexy and a little tough, one of my favorite combinations (I think we can def thank Raf Simons for that). I like the body hugging fringe, the suits that fade into dress lines, and the subtle asymmetry that is thrown in here and there.

My one complaint is about the eyewear that was styled in the runway looks. Eyewear for Jil Sander is new as of this year and I'm diggin some of the pieces. It would have been nice to see some of the others styled in.

Or perhaps some from the mens line, why not?

Alexander Wang

I've been watching this kid quickly blow up all over the fashion world, as he well deserves it. I'm in love with his direction: clean, simple silhouettes with a urban streetwear edge. He plays off highs and lows always with an underlying androgeny. His pieces are things you would wear everyday and you would stand out but never in an obvious way (an example of his love of contrasts). His looks are mysterious, captivating and expressive of an individualistic sense of style. This kid encapsulates so many of my favorite things its insane.
